PYA Analytics represents a third-generation step and a quantum leap in Pershing Yoakley & Associates’ use of state-of-the-art analytic processes and helps fulfill a long-held goal of establishing East Tennessee as an international center for data analytics, Ed Pershing, PYA president, says. PYA plans to work with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the University of Tennessee, and area businesses and industry to develop this region as a leader in applied data analytics.
“PYA has always wanted to launch a major initiative that capitalized on the great scientific work being undertaken in Oak Ridge,” Pershing said. “PYA Analytics is that opportunity. Brian Worley and Edmon Begoli’s leadership at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory formed a foundation on which we can build a lasting relationship with ORNL.”
In the early 1990s, the firm started using data analytic tools to assist clients in improving performance in claims recovery and by identifying opportunities for more efficient operations. Building on those successful efforts, it established in the year 2000 an affiliate company, Healthcare Horizons Consulting Group. Today, HHCGI serves a number of Fortune 100 companies and is considered the industry leader in utilizing analytical tools to audit large volumes of health claims without relying on often unreliable sampling techniques.
